Aqua Fria Monument

The Agua Fria Monument is a relatively undeveloped stretch of 71,000 acres, filled with wildlife, desert grasslands and riparian forest, all cut out of the earth by the Agua Fria River. It is important to note that this monument has no developed facilities, and that the terrain is uneven. In most cases you will need a high clearance 4WD vehicle. Read More

  • Located off of Interstate 17, this is probably a trip best ventured in the Spring and Fall, due to the very hot temperatures.
  • Walk among the Pueblo la Plata ancient ruins and keep your eyes peeled for desert wildlife.

What can I see and do at the Agua Fria National Monument?

  • Wildlife Viewing: Coyotes, bobcats, antelope, mule deer, javelina, eagles and longfin dace all call this land home.
